Principal's Message

Dear Knoch Middle School Parents,

Welcome to another great school year!  Our school team is committed to helping your student become an ELITE scholar and overall individual.  Our successful efforts as a school have been recognized with several prestigious awards. We are proud to announce that our students have competed, placed, and/or been recognized in events such as the state competition for FBLA,  PMEA Jr. High District Chorus, and PMEA Jr. High District Band. These are all wonderful honors that recognize the commitment to the process of becoming ELITE from our staff and students.

Appropriate and respectful interactions amongst all stakeholders is a major component of being an ELITE person.  In an effort to teach students how to be ELITE individuals, staff will consistently reinforce, teach, and model self-discipline, empathy, honesty, responsibility, and good judgement.  In addition to teaching students how to be ELITE, students will be provided platforms/opportunities to implement what they have learned through programs such as Rachel’s Challenge, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, and the One Book One School program.

We believe that all stakeholders (students, staff, administration, parents/guardians) are lifelong learners and will work hard to further strengthen our excellent teaching of the Pennsylvania Core Standards in both Language Arts and Math. Reading is a keystone component of lifelong learning; as parents/guardians, please continue to reinforce the importance of reading every day. Students are expected to read multiple sources to analyze, synthesize and critically write about what they read.  Reading every day at home is not an option but a must so that your child can excel academically and in their career.

The Knoch Middle School Staff is ready to work together to create an ELITE foundation of skills and content that will allow our students to build toward college and career readiness. However, we know that it takes a team working together to accomplish an ELITE level of achievement.  We are expecting our parents to be involved in our school and to make sure that students come prepared every day with completed homework, Chromebooks charged, and needed supplies which support the efforts of our teachers in providing an ELITE learning experience for the child. Parents are highly encouraged to actively join our team by attending open house, participating/aiding in events such as book fairs, JA Day, supporting extra-curricular and co-curricular activities/clubs, logging in to Skyward Parent Portal, attending cyber-safety/anti-bullying school-sponsored programs, and by communicating with teachers about your child's progress and how you can help your child at home. The level of parent involvement is directly correlated to our high level of student success. Make it your goal this year to be actively involved in your child’s school, and make sure your child reads every day.

The middle school webpage is a useful guide to the many activities and programs offered at Knoch Middle School, as well as information about school and administrative policies. The calendar may be used to help plan your family’s busy school schedule. Please note that we will provide up to date information on the website calendar, the school info app, and Google Classroom.  Video tutorials can be accessed on the website if you need assistance accessing/utilizing any of the above items.

The Knoch Middle School Family is committed to the success of all students. Learning and teaching is our business, and we are determined to be the best that we can be. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make this year a more successful and memorable school year for your child.

Again, I am looking forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year. Thank you for your support, and together we will help your child, along with all of our students, develop a love for learning and lifelong learning habits!
